Hello again Elsi and all, Thanks to Elsi's help, I have been able to get Mailmerge to mail the oupput to me, but still can't get it to write to a file. These are not forms I will be using, but just for learning. When/if I get the basics down, then I can create others I may want to use. For my input form, I used an abbreviated version of Family Group Sheet Form at http://freepages.computers.rootsweb.com/~pasher/fgs.htm My form is at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tiptonsingeorgia/grpshform.html On my template, I tried to pattern the "ACTION= File" line after the example in the Posting to a web page template in Http://freepages.computers.rootsweb.com/~elsi/free-mailmerge.html and the instructions directly under the template example. My template is at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tiptonsingeorgia/groupsheet.txt I changed to the .txt extension because when using .tmp, about half the time when trying to view or edit it in the RootsWeb Editor, it would download to MS Works on my computer and MS Works couldn't open it. At the moment, I can't locate the reference that said it doesn't matter what extension you use for the template, but think I did read it somewhere. The oupput file is http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tiptonsingeorgia/famgroup.html When I click the Submit Data Now button on http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tiptonsingeorgia/grpshform.html I go to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-n/mailmerge.cgi/~tiptonsingeorgi a/groupsheet.txt where the following appears: An error occurred while processing this form: /home/httpd/cgi-bin/mailmerge.cgi: Specified log file '/ul/t/i/p/t/tiptonsingeorgia/famgroup.html' does not exist. It must already be created and writable. In the remote directory of Cute FTP, it shows rw-rw-rw beside the file. I have tried writing the file with and without the </body> and </html> tags. The Basics of Mail Merge says don't use them. I believe I left them in the last change. I have read so many different instructions and tried so many different things, that my head is spinning. I believe if someone will tell me how to format the action line on the template it will, work, but of course I want to know other errors also. TIA, Russell :
