    3. Hello Susan, I used Front Page for years, and if you have "folders" in your web when you look at what you have online, then start your new Web before you download anything and if you see the folders online that make the same ones in your new web. Then using your ftp software, open the folder you just made and select the on online by the same name and open it and select all that is in the folder, and download the contents, you will need to do that for each folder. Download is as easy as up loading so don't be afraid to try that. If you have icons or pictures, make sure you download them into the same new folder. If you have web pages that are linked to each other than on the right side of the ftp program select all of them and "download' them. I hope you understand my ozark speak. If not you can contact me. 3. I use Frontpage which works well for what I do. I have the following ftp://users.rootsweb.com Then a page opens that shows me my files on my computer - strangely only files up to 2007. I have an enormous number of files that I uploaded from 2007 to 2015, possilbly over 1500 pages. What is odd to me is that this page also shows what pages are hosted at the remote site, which I believe is at Rootsweb, but there is only maybe 20 files listed. Not even close to the number of pages there. I am worried about downloading and only those 20 pages come down and all the pages I have up there now will be lost. sylvia -------------------------------------------------- From: "Pat Asher via" <rootsweb-help@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2015 8:04 PM To: <rootsweb-help@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [ROOTSWEB-HELP] How to download my webfiles from the Rootsweb server > At 05:31 PM 10/27/2015, you wrote: >>My computer crashed and I need to download my files for the website >>NYGREEN2 back to my new computer from the Rootsweb server. 2. Webmaster LCGS via
    3. Thanks, all, for your input. I ended up replacing the Yahoo!Maps code with the embedded code from GoogleMaps, then made the overall map a little larger. It seems to have worked OK and nothing broke. IDK what the original site was created under, but when I took it over, it was being maintained with MS SharePoint Designer 2007. I have downloaded and installed EW4 and whenever I get brave enough to re-do the entire site, I'll use that. I've read lots of tutorials (thanks,  Patricia!) and one of these days I'll actually start re-designing the site from the ground up. As far as I can tell, in examining the pages of our site for errors and broken links, etc, each page stands alone, I cannot see evidence of CSS. So I need to really learn that concept before I begin messing with the site. Thanks again and no doubt you'll hear from me again when I start the site overhaul. I'm planning to do it from scratch, meaning, I'm not going to try to 'fix' existing pages, except for maybe the tabular data ones. Marilyn Clark, Webmaster Lower Columbia Genealogical Society Longview, WA On Monday, October 5, 2015 6:52 AM, Patricia Geary <pat@family-genealogy-online.com> wrote: If Marilyn is using Expression Web(any version) is p class="style1" was created by the program when she used the formatting toolbar to style an element. 1. [ROOTSWEB-HELP] Google Maps embed code
    2. Webmaster LCGS via
    3. I have little experience in web design & creation, but took over maintaining the website for our society. Please bear with my ignorance!! Our site has had a Yahoo!Map on the home page. I just discovered that Yahoo!Maps went away in June 2015, so now our link is broken. I cannot figure out the code on our index page. I did create a small Google Map, got the code for embedding it into my index page, but I don't know where to put it, exactly. I don't know how much of the old, existing code for the Yahoo!Map can safely be deleted. So here is the section of code where the old map resided, and following that, the "embed" code that Google says I should use for the map.Old code: <p class="style1">         <a id="yui_3_1_1_1_1286419246682553" _yuid="yui_3_1_1_1_1286419246682555" href="http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGdSkgM61MuMcADXBXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTB0OThuMHBhBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA3NrMQR2dGlkA0g2MjJfMTUx/SIG=12prt4p6i/EXP=1286505632/**http://local.yahoo.com/info-22272080-somerset-longview?viewtype=map">         <img id="yui_3_1_1_1_1286419246682552" onerror="this.src='http://a.l.yimg.com/a/i/us/sch/gr2/fail_map_c.gif'" src="http://image.maps.yahoo.com/MapImage?appid=search&amp;locale=en_US&amp;imf=png&amp;mflags=KMY&amp;imw=198&amp;imh=162&amp;clat=46.146571&amp;clon=-122.968127&amp;ims=25000&amp;imi=mrk_star_trans.gif" width="198" height="162" _yuid="yui_3_1_1_1_1286419246682554"></a></p> Embed code from GoogleMaps (ignore some hard returns I added so it would fit onscreen in this email): <iframe src="https://www.google.com/maps/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d2764.1974345312115!2d-122.96752074523009!3d46.146814496246805!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x0000000000000000%3A0x6b73b07d7fa6bde8!2sSomerset+Retirement+Home+and+Assisted+Living!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sus!4v1443898307494" width="400" height="300" frameborder="0" style="border:0" allowfullscreen></iframe> After looking at this, I wonder if I couldn't just make a screen shot of the new Google Map and drop it onto the page as an image? I've looked at the GoogleMaps TOS and I'm still not sure. I don't care about the map being dynamic. We just want people to find our meeting location. Thanks for your help!! Marilyn Clark, Webmaster Lower Columbia Genealogical Society Longview, WA

    2. Timothy Stowell via
    3. Is there a way to embed rather than show a link to a list search on Rootsweb? For instance I want to place a blurb on how to search xyz list in the same html page I have for subscribing to the county list. I know I can put a link to the actual search page but it would be nice to just have the form there. The archiver url is - http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/search?aop&path=xxyyyyyy XX - state YYYYYY - county name but such would require another click from a visitor to get to the actual search the mailing list form. Anyway, thought I'd ask to see if such is possible. Tim
