I just uploaded via FrontPage a new web page (www.rootsweb.com/~mompcdar/) and going in via IE, I get the directory listing. It is not starting the Index.htm automatically. When I add the Index.htm to the URL I am told the page does not exist. The pages work but the user must select Index.htm, which is not ideal. Will you tell me how to correct this problem? Carol, I would suggest you stick with javascript and forgo the applets. I have found that many applets are slow and don't load completely (users are impatient and have to wait for the entire page to finish loading before they will see the applet and be able to use it). All seven boards in the GenConnect suites were combined into one master board in the new RootsWeb/Ancestry Message Board system, and the Query board administrator was deemed to be the appropriate ongoing master board administrator. Jane, It would be lovely to be able to tell everyone that their boards have been moved and where they are, but it isn't that simple. The reason being that sometimes we move complete categories and subsidiary boards, sometimes we don't know whether the boards have admins or not, plus with us trying to get to and move boards before we the rights approved it. Then to add the old hoary chestnut of time, the time it would take to find the admin's address, to send an email would add 50% of the time that it takes to do the process and to add that amount of time will affect all the other things that are needed to be done yet. As I said, I would love to be able to it, it really just isn't feasible and to allow any time away from this keyboard. Greetings, In the shuffle of moved boards, etc. I have lost the access to "my" Giles County, Tennessee board. When you click on Links & Announcements it shows my name and email address. At one time there was a yellow highlighted line that told me I was one of the administrators. I no longer see that line, nor the access to updating links & announcements. How do I find my way there? I tried a few sample searches *without* logging in, and I printed them off. In the following, the letter eye is represented by a one to prevent this from showing up as a "hit" for these names. Surname is Gre1tzner. Searched all boards (global search) using (1) all lower case; (2) mixed case; and (3) all CAPS. (1) got 4 hits, 3 from me; (2) got 3 hits (all mine) and (3) and 3 hits (all mine). 2nd Surname is Harm1son. Searched all boards (global search) using (1) all lower case; (2) mixed case; and (3) all CAPS. (1) got 130 hits; (2) got 103 hits; (3) got 43 hits. *EVERY* post reported in (2) and (3) was included in (1). (I considered it a match if and ONLY if: boards > chain was identical; message title was identical; poster was identical; date was identical.) Hello, I hope I am not just looking for trouble where none exists, or seeing something sinister when everything is fine, but this morning when I try to search for a name at RootsWeb.com using the WorldConnect feature, I am not able to access it. And I notice that when I use the 'meta search' feature, WorldConnect is no longer one of the results that turns up. As I have contributed my gedcom to WorldConnect and update it regularly, I would like to know what is happening. Does anyone have any idea? Maybe they are just updating, but with the recent changes there, it makes me worry where my information has gone. Patsy
