    3. Hi to everyone who has sent advice, I was glad to know my coding was correct and my problem was not viewing it online. I did not want to put my web page online without every aspect of the page working. (I only left "Mount Pinos Webspinners" up as a place marker for the rest of the code) Now my web site is up, but the counter is not working. Here is the URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mings/ Thanks for your help, Pat > Subject: Re: [RW-Help] Last-modified dates > Date: Sat, 22 Sep 2001 21:38:13 -0500 > From: Elsi <elsi@augustmail.com> > To: RootsWeb-Help-L@rootsweb.com > > At 10:17 PM 09/22/2001 -0400, Richard & Pat wrote: > >Hi, > >I am trying to put an automatic date modified on my web page. What am I doing wrong? I answered this on the list on Friday -- you may not have read the response. I'll send you a personal copy this time. (Hint: answers most often come to the list, not to the individual.) Well, you're not "Mount Pinos Webspinners", so you might want to replace this with your name. <grin> But, you didn't tell us where this page is loaded on the server so we can look and see if there's something wrong with your coding. The SSI code you've included in your question is correct. My best guess in the absence of any documentation is that you're trying to view a local copy of the page from your hard drive. The date is inserted by the server when it delivers the page to the browser. (That's why they're called *server-side includes*.) So, the only way to see this working is to upload your page to the server & then view it from there. Regards, Elsi

    3. Hi Pat, I think your problem is that the !-- before and the -- after the code is the coding for a comment. That means that it won't show on the screen, only in the source code. Try saying: <p>Your name -- <#echo var="LAST_MODIFIED"></p> Good luck, Fran

What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Pat

    3. Heather and Carmen, I've addressed this reply to the both of you for you both had Eudora address and mailbox file/folder questions. I just returned from a 3 week vacation and just now getting back into these newsgroups. Heather's message: >>I put my Eudora on a zip disk and "saved it". I restored and took 30 minutes to reload and I thought great this is going to work. BUT, when we went to "open" it the "New" email opens and there is no sign of my "old" file folders etc.<< Carmen's message: >>Are there some Eudora users that can tell me how to transfer files (mailboxes and address book) from my old computer to my new computer? << Heather, if you saved and restored all of Eudora from the zip disk them your "old" address and mailboxes files should be there. >>I restored and took 30 minutes to reload.. << But ..... if in this statement reload means reinstalled and you did this **after** restoring from the zip disk, then the reinstalling overwrote your old address and mailbox folders and files with brand new ones. I would have first reinstalled Eudora then copied the old address and mailbox folders and files from the zip disk into the program. Here are the files needed for addresses and mailboxes: 1. Addresses: Found in the folder Eudora: NNdbase.toc NNdbase.txt If you have created addresses books, they will be located in the folder called: Nickname Within this folder are the created address books/lists with the files names ending with: *.toc and *.txt. You need both these files. Some of mine are called: maillist.toc maillist.txt friends.toc friends.txt windham volunteers.toc windham volunteers.txt You need to copy the whole Nickname folder with contents to Eudora. 2. Mailboxes: mailboxes also come in 2 files with extensions *.mbx and *.toc. You need both these files for each mailbox. The In, Out, Trash and other mailboxes **not** created in specific folders are located in the root folder of Eudora and are called: in.mbx in.toc out.mbx out.toc trash.mbx trash.toc etc.... If you have set up a folder for specific mailboxes then you need that folder with the mailbox files within it. For example I have set up a Mail List folder called: Mail Lists. Within this folder I have such mailboxes as: RootsWeb Help CT GenConnecticut CT Mansfield CT Middle CT NewLond-L CT TollandCO CT WindhamCO MA GenMassachusetts MA Plymouth MA Essex-L so on and so forth. Eudora named the mail list folder, Maillist.fol, and the mailbox files within the folder as: CT GenConnecticut.mbx CT GenConnecticut.toc CT Middle.mbx CT Middle.toc so on and so forth. Sooooo.... ladies, you needed to manually copy the above files and folder types into your new Eudora setup. 3. Hi! Forgive me for posting this to the list as it really is not a "Rootsweb question"... On Sunday my computer started to do "funny things" I immediately backed up my programs and have been able to restore everything EXCEPT my Eudora 5.0 Email ("free version") which I have been using for the past 12-14 months. At this point I have lost all contact names and address, attachment's of information for my Campobello pages which have been donated for the site etc. I am hoping someone may be able to restore this file. I put my Eudora on a zip disk and "saved it". I restored and took 30 minutes to reload and I thought great this is going to work. BUT, when we went to "open" it the "New" email opens and there is no sign of my "old" file folders etc. Does anyone have any suggestions as to "how" I can possibly get this program back?? Any suggestions at this point GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!! Bill: My best guess is that you are trying to upload a file which has a space in its file name or some other character which the File Manager considers invalid in file names. Try renaming your file and see if that fixes the problem. Regards, Elsi __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help? Vicki attempted to send out the first Boards-Admins-Announce message to all board admins using the new tool the board developers had created for that purpose. The tool had a bug that resulted in the error message being sent instead. The message she was attempting to send out was an announcement of the creation of a message board that list admins could tell their list members about for posting messages about recent tragedy.
