Cleadie, on the bottom of the photo page, I clicked on home and it doesn't work You have it going straight back to rootsweb instead of to your page. you have http://www.rootsweb.com/index.htm You need to change it to http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbstandr to go back to your page. I have IE 5 and the pictures come up fine. Hopefully someone with Netscape can help you with that. A little trick in case you don't know of it: to remove the lines around an image you are using as link, after you put in the image info (<img src="xxxx.jpg">) add border=0 so it will look like this: <img src="xxx.jpg" border=0> it really cleans up the page Hope this helped. Can anyone explain why the thumbnail photos (on the page below) show up, but the links will not take me to the larger photos - in Netscape 4.7x, but work as they should in I.E.? All pictures are in a dir. called Photos. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nbstandr/stan4.htm The photos were taken with a digital camera in jpg format. I used Adobe Photoshop 4.0 to annotate them, and had to save them as a copy to retain the jpg format. I then renamed then back to their original names (for both the reg. size and the thumbs). Everything is working fine on my hard drive, and in Internet Explorer. Cleadie B.
I am using FrontPage 2000, and just uploaded my new site which it said loaded successfully. It is not showing up on the URL. All I get is site not found. What did I do wrong? Stephanie Labert
Today at the Family History Library, the workers removed all the WOODEN boxy chairs out. They replaced with all new "Drive" chairs. Very comfortable. Steelcase company is supplying the chairs, same company also supplying the booths for the online computer areas. see http://www.steelcase.com click "Products" click "High Performance" click "Drive" - this describe what is included. click" "Mid-back T-arm" That is the type of chair. That is the new chair

You can put this code on as many pages as you want and it will pull up the "footer" and make it look like it is part of your original page. All you have to do when you make changes is change the footer and it appears on all the pages. You could leave the links you haven't made yet inactive and change them on the footer as they are ready. The code is: <!--#include virtual="footer.html"--> Just don't forget to upload footer.html. If you want to see an example you can go to my web site. One example is http://www.rootsweb.com/~iaclarke/educ.html although most of my pages use this technique. Well, the only way you can have an automatic redirect is if you put a page with the proper name online. And, if you put a page online, you could just create a plain "Coming Soon" page for each of the 8 which are not yet done. Regards, Elsi

Hi, I am working on a web site and have 2 of 10 pages finished and loaded. I have included the links to the other 8 on the first two because I don't want to redo them constantly as I complete and load the new pages. I remember seeing something recently about an automatic redirect, but can't find the information. Did anyone save it, or is there a better or a different way to avoid the "Page Not Found" till I am done. Thanks in advance. Rel@ively, Patrice

Pat, I couldn't get any of the "last modified" methods to work either. Messages similar to this have been making the rounds of Minnesota counties. When you go to the site, there's nothing there and your computer tends to freeze up. Does anybody know about this? Jean R. Yep, I've used it a lot. But you have to code it correctly. You still have to have the two -- after the <! which opens the SSI command. And, the "directory" part has to start at the server root and specify the exact file which is to be imbedded into this page like this: <!--#include virtual="/~account/filename.html" --> I've put up a simple sample in two of my accounts on www.rootsweb.com. The web page is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~alclebur/testit.html It imbeds a file located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~algenweb/testing/trailer.html The SSI coding is shown on my 'testit' page: <!--#include virtual="/~algenweb/testing/trailer.html" --> Regards, Elsi
I have been able to use SSI <!--#include file="filename" --> on Rootsweb, but unable to use the virtual command. Has anyone successfully used the <!#include virtual="directory" --> command on Rootsweb. Thanks in advance. Steve
Pat, At 11:50 AM 9/24/01 -0400, you wrote: I was glad to know my coding was correct and my problem was not viewing it online. I did not want to put my web page online without every aspect of the page working. Now my web site is up, but the counter is not working. Here is the URL: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mings/ Hmmmm...... there are **2** kinds of counters that can be used on RootsWeb pages. Looking at your counter coding on-line (which sometimes appears different on-line from off-line) it appears as: You are visitor <img SRC="Count.cgi" height=30 width=100 align=CENTER> since April 7, 1999. 1. 1st kind is for the counter appearing at: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/wizards/webmasters.html#counter This type counts every hit to the page even when the same person goes back and forth between pages at the site. If using this code, your line should read: You are visitor <!--#exec cgi="/cgi-bin/counterord"--> since April 7, 1999. (I hope this coding appears as text once this message is sent and not converted to HTML ....) 2. 2nd kind of counter appearing at: http://counter.rootsweb.com/Counter.html This type counts only one hit per person per day/per session. This counter needs to be registered - done when you click the "Create...." button - and then you will be given coding to use. It won't work until you have their coding. Your coding would look something like: <img src="http://counter.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/Count.cgi?df=mings"> with values for height and weight of box border if so desired. I have both counters working on my USGenWeb site for the town of Plymouth: http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ At the bottom of the page. The counter in the black box with blue border is the 2nd one above registering 17,000+ hits. The 1st counter above is registering 14,0000 something hits. --- Susan SGTAYLOR1@att.net My Genealogy Website - sgt http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/ ----------------------------------------------- USGW Mansfield, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/mansfield.html USGW New London, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/newlondon.html USGW Norwich, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/norwich.html USGW Windham, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/windham.html USGW Coordinator Plymouth Co., MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~maplymou/ USGW Plymouth, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ *********************************************************
