    3. Thanks, that is somewhat better - but it still isn't reading the fonts and some of the other things like I think it is supposed to. I am used to doing internal style sheets and not the external type so I may have it messed up. Before I started this I read how to make an external and thought I had it figured out. Now I am confused along with the other two things - perplexed and feeling somewhat stupid, too! Again, thanks. 3. List Readers, did you ever feel down right stupid and perplexed at the same time? Well, at the moment, that is certainly me. If someone out there has a few minutes who could help me with an external style sheet problem I sure would appreciate it. The more I look at this page - the bigger the problem gets! *smile* For some reason it isn't being read - just can't get it to work. It seems to be linked up right but there must be another problem. 3. Tina, I used Front Page but not for the things that are given in the instructions to remove, etc. - just used it for the code writing. After I learned something about code I started using other programs. The listing I gave of the Microsoft Front Page that you said is outdated, is what I was using. I do know that it is outdated - the purpose in this is to get rid of the mess that it made. Sorry for the misunderstanding. The Table2clipboard addin for Firefox can clean up the rest of it. http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/table2clipboard.html Is the menu you are talking about using going to appear on every page (it should). You should be able to open the site in either ew or dw with no problem I would think. You are already using an embedded style sheet so could easily convert it to an external sheet and attach it to all pages. This would certainly make making changes to the look of the site easier. You would also develop a DWT or dynamic web template in either program for the parts of the site that will remain the same then attach it to the content. As an example, this site http://dewitt.ilgenweb.net/ use a couple of DWT's. The front page is different than the inside pages. The inside pages look like this http://dewitt.ilgenweb.net/portrait-biographical-album.htm with the header, menu and footer standard for all pages. A lot of work, YES but after it is complete it will be much easier to maintain. Not sure how Evrsoft First Page 2006 works so a DWT may not be possible in this program. Pat

    3. Tina, Pat and all the other experts out there, I don't think that I used Front Page for any of the things mentioned on the link you sent me to review. Here is the answer to one of your questions - I have a large web site over 11,000 pages. And there has been 3 or 4 coordinators all using different ways of writing code - and most are all obsolete ways now days. I have already updated some of the pages to CSS using both external and internal style sheets. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/barry.htm Another answer - I do not have Expression Web but do have Dreamweaver 8 and see that I can use it to migrate my pages to a different format. I want them all in CSS and want to do away with the old HTML pages without working on the project years and years to accomplish this end objective. >From the instructions it appears that the process might possibly be about the same for Dreamweaver as with Expression Web. Maybe you are trying to sell Expression Web - I have no idea - and maybe you don't want to talk about other programs? If so, I understand - If not and you are objective - I have some concerns about using Expression Web. Probably most are nothing more than a lack of understanding since I have never used the program. I am thinking about using Dreamweaver for the process since I am familiar with the program and already have it. Here is a link for the conversion process for Dreamweaver. http://www.jsm-hosting.com/technical-info/convert-FrontPage-dreamweaver.html Another answer - this is the details for Front Page - "Microsoft FrontPage 5.0" - meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252" I wish I could find an expert to do this for me, but I suppose, that would probably be too costly since I have a large web site. 3. Pat, isn't that for people who used the themes that Front Page has with all the decorations, etc., I mean the themes that goes with the Front Page set ups? I never used Front Page like that and only used it for the code so I am not sure that would work for me or not - maybe you will know. Also - I have been reading that I can do a transfer with Dreamweaver 8, too. But I see the instructions are about the same as with Expression web. They have in the instructions how to set up a template to switch all of the Front Page themes, etc., which I do not have. So, sorry to bother you with this again, but maybe you will know if that would work for me or not. 3. List Readers, is there an easy way to convert pages done in Front Page to CSS style sheets? I have been using Evrsoft First Page 2006 and Coffee Cup to convert the code but it takes a lot of time. In my frustration, I am looking for a quick fix that probably isn't out there but thought I'd ask anyway. Donna Cooper

    3. Thank you, Pat, I don't know how I overlooked that in Coffee Cup. I want to take my front page and use a drop down menu for all the links that I have. The trouble seems to be that one precious thing called time - wish I had a robot to help out. *smile* http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mobarry/barry.htm Donna Cooper ----- Original Message ---- From: Patricia Geary <patgeary@comcast.net> To: rootsweb-help@rootsweb.com Sent: Tue, June 29, 2010 8:48:46 AM Subject: Re: [ROOTSWEB-HELP] Drop Down Boxes At 09:24 AM 6/29/2010, DONNA COOPER wrote: >List Readers, do any of you know if SothinkDHTML is a good program >to use to make drop down boxes or if there is a better way to do >that application? > >I use Dream Weaver 8 and Eversoft First Page 2006 most of the time >but also have on my computer Front Page and Coffee Cup. 3. List Readers, do any of you know if Sothink DHTML is a good program to use to make drop down boxes or if there is a better way to do that application? I use Dream Weaver 8 and Eversoft First Page 2006 most of the time but also have on my computer Front Page and Coffee Cup. Do any of those programs have an application for drop downs and maybe I have just missed it? Donna Cooper
