If not, here's the low-down: You have TWO list archives, that are collected two different ways, and have different purposes. If you check and either of these isn't functioning, you should contact Listmaster@rootsweb.com and give her all the details. Karen's Archive AKA Isearch, or Searches for short, is at http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl To go to any list directly, use http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=LISTNAME-L This archive is drawn from the digests of each list, so it may be a day or two behind, depending on list settings. === The Threaded Archive -- for any particular list, you can go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and find the wanted list, or go to the list directly: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/LISTNAME-L/ The Threaded Archive is wonderful for browsing. The entries are drawn from individual posts, so they are almost instantly available. Hope this helps, Valorie

If not, you simply add the address you want blocked to your Reject List, which is found on the List Files tab of your Tools page. Paste in just the address, no names, no punctuation, and remember to click the Submit Changes button. If you put a subscriber on the Reject list, all of their posts bounce to you for monitoring. If you put a non (or former) subscriber on it, they will not be able to resub, nor post, since only subscribers can post to your list. If you ever see a post which says {not a subscriber} in the subject line, that is a bounce, and will not reach your list unless you decide to forward/redirect it to your list. Hope this helps, Valorie
Hi Roger: << I have a tool that checks the links (Url) in my web pages. >> I use Xenu which does a great job as far as I am concerned. The really good news is that its freeware :) Check out the Xenu site at: http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html John Fuller johnf14246@aol.com
I have a tool that checks the links (Url) in my web pages. Is there a similar tool to detect invalid E-mail addresses in a web page? Roger
Gloria, Thanks for your help. I do believe we now have a handle on her problem and she has now fixed it. Also thanks for sending the link below, I had used it on a previous web site years ago, then lost the link. Just ran it, and the "alt" in the body, was mentioned too. ;-) Overall, tho, I did pretty darn good on all the ratings. The worst was marked "good". Still can improve, as it is a work in progress. Thanks again for all your help, it is appreciated. Melinda Gloria Bronte Lane wrote: > > Well, I noticed in your body your have an "alt" which I don't think is > valid for Body. If she is using Netscape 4.7, she should be able to go to the menu bar and click on Edit, Preferences, Appearance, Colors, background color. You can set how you want to view the colors in your Netscape browser. Norma Jennings
Well, I noticed in your body your have an "alt" which I don't think is valid for Body. If you want a light background color, try adding bgcolor="#FFFFFF" or bgcolor="white" Her version of Netscape Communicator oughta be ok. Course there could be something about her DIsplay control panel settings. Re your web page, you might run it through http://www.websitegarage.com and see what it says about the code. Good luck - Sorry I'm not more help. Gloria ------------ At 08:36 AM 11/11/2000 -0900, you wrote: >To all that have replied thank you! Was there a change made to the query bot on October 16th? I split my file out into months and when I was editing last months queries I noticed that there are a lot of black squares or rectangles in the file and all the text is on one line broke at 255 lenghts or something. Can any one tell me if theirs is the same.
To all that have replied thank you! I have learned that she is using Netscape Communicator version 4.7 on a 3 year old computer. I knew she wasn't using or accessing webtv, as it is NOT in her email address. But I do appreciate receiving that link. I had her check all that was suggested, and she still has a problem. Any other ideas? Perhaps I should totally revamp my site. A lot of work, but if one person can't access the site, then at least 9 others can't either and just hasn't spoken up. Thank again for all that have responded, it is appreciated. You have the coding for the image on page http://www.rootsweb.com/~okbhs/how_to/howto.htm with the first letter capitalized like: Image29.gif However, the graphic was uploaded with file name: image29.gif You can see this image if you use: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okbhs/how_to/image29.gif <note the lower case "i" on image> Either change the name of the *.gif or change the coding to lower case. --- Susan SGTAYLOR1@att.net My Genealogy Website - sgt http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/ - --------------------------------------------- USGW Mansfield, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/mansfield.html USGW New London, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/newlondon.html USGW Norwich, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/norwich.html USGW Windham, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/windham.html USGW Plymouth, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ ********************************************************* >Shari > > > >============================== >The only real-time collaboration tool that allows you and other family >members to create a FREE, password-protected family tree. >http://www.ancestry.com/oft/login.asp
Hi Shari! It is because your page lists the image name as "Image29.gif" and it is uploaded to the server named "image29.gif". RootsWeb servers are case sensitive and the names must match exactly for them to show up. Betsy RootsWeb Staff At 06:37 PM 11/10/00 -0600, you wrote: >I'm having a problem with images. A person has contacted me about her problem viewing my NYS Off-line Sources at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nysource/ Her initial note stated: " It is impossible to read the blue print on the black background. Unfortunately, this section is useless because the title of the books is illegible. I had looked forward to reading it but it is impossible. Can the background be changed to a light color?? " Since I not using a black background, I her wrote back to her to see what pages, if not all pages, she had problems with, and this is her response: " I checked your Off Line site again, and everytime I found a listing of books under any category, there appears a 2 or 3 line box which must include the title and brief description of the book, all of which is illegible. The black bleeds into the blue print, making it all black. I think part of the title description is typed in black, but that of course can't be seen either. I also tried Otsego, Delaware, Essex, and Catt. Counties and New York City with the same result. The black box is usually two or three lines deep and almost all the width of the page. The box of a green-blue around the county choice is legible. " There is no color listed for background - all are .gif format images. Why is this happening to her and how does one correct the problem? I'm stumped, so will appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you. Melinda Cornwell Coordinator of NYS Off-line Sources
I'm having a problem with images. I use WS_FTP Pro. The uploaded images do not show on the web page. Occasionally one will show, however, generally they do not. This problem started yesterday. Before that, everything worked fine. I have reviewed the html source page and the codes are identical to the codes on the pages that have uploaded correctly. I have reuploaded with same result. The images are the same ones I have used on previously uploaded pages. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestion appreciated. To view the problem pages go to www.rootsweb.com/~okbhs/how_to/howto.htm. Hi again, Linda A couple of points mentioned to me on using 'target' (assuming they are true): MSIE 2.0 or earlier, doesn't support it. Navigator 4 has a known bug whereby the second window opens up BEHIND the first, so you might not know it's there if you don't notice it appearing on your task bar at the bottom. Mike H.
