Jane, are you referring to the lists? ALL the messages are on the message boards. Archiver is having some technical problems, if you are referring to lists, but Searches is still working great: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Hope this helps, Valorie J Lesner wrote: > > Why are the message boards no longer archived? Has anyone gotten one of these? It came in on my MOMARION-L-Request address. Very odd indeed! Reverse Spam perhaps? Why are the message boards no longer archived? All the archives end in June. Is there a new way to access the boards without subscribing? Jane
Another thought....if you typed in your password incorrectly and saved it as a shortcut in Fetch it may be causing the error. I did this with my own account and everytime I use the shortcut I get login incorrect. I made a second shortcut with the correct password -- but still sometimes use the old one by mistake. Anyone using Fetch know how to clean out the shortcuts menu? I have tried the instructions and it doesn't work like it is supposed to. Best Wishes, Carol Hepburn chepburn@qwest.net Phoenix, AZ USA
Where are ya'll finding your graphics for the pages? I don't have time to make them, but Vikimouse.com doesn't have them for free anymore (the main place I knew to get them from). Would you please share your resources with me :o) Thanks! Betty Hancock

Any suggestions. Ree Hopper Ree - There are four servers at RootsWeb on which your account might exist. Specific information about which server you've been assigned is in the letter sent to you by Betsy when your account was set up. Your account is on the Homepages server (http://homepages.rootsweb.com) and therefore you will upload your pages to homepages.rootsweb.com Users with accounts on www.rootsweb.com upload to users.rootsweb.com, and those with accounts on freepages.rootsweb.com upload to users.freepages.rootsweb.com Regards, Elsi Regards, Elsi
I have been trying to upload to my website and keep at "users.rootsweb.com" using fetch "reetrees" and my password and keep getting an error in login message. Any suggestions. I am not an expert but I had a hard time uploading to rootsweb. I think you have to load using ftp://users.rootsweb.com It was the "http" instead of the "ftp" that was giving me the problem. Which program are you using to load your pages? Hope this helps. Maybe an expert will answer. He needs to send you a recent list post, with full headers, if possible. If you can't tell what is going on from the headers, forward to the Listowners-L or Newbie-Listowner-L, and the experts will figure it out. My thanks to Elsi & Patrice for the information regarding BUCE, I have never sent any Spam to anyone. My subject lines are normally as the above, short and to the point and my original letter was about 10 lines in length, I will certainly be getting in touch with the Postmaster as you suggested Patrice. Thank-you very much. Regards Mary
Perhaps he has an old address forwarding to the new one? If he hits "reply to all" to list message, it should pop up the address of his that the message was sent to. At the very least, have him post to the list in response to another post so you can see from which address the message comes. A subscriber unsubscribed from PHILLY-ROOTS-L, but continues to get messages from the list. Since buying his computer, he has had only one email address and that address is not on the subscriber's list. In other words, the fellow is not on the list, but he continues to get messages. He wants the messages from PHILLY-ROOTS to stop. I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Walt waltstock@worldnet.att.net
Does anyone know what BUCE is, I have failed to get a message to someone three times because the server does not accept BUCE, what is it? Regards Mary

Bulk Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (i.e. spam) I haven't a clue why a note addressed to one person would be rejected as spam. Go back and check your subject line, the number of recipients, etc. Or contact the postmaster at the site which is rejecting your notes and ask what's up. Regards, Elsi
Walt, I suspect there is a corresponding MESSAGE BOARD with the gateway turned on. And you don't have gc-gateway@rootsweb.com on your accept list. I think if you really don't want to see the messages all you have to do is add gc-gateway@rootsweb.com to your reject list. Walt, first -- {not a subscriber} means a *bounce*, not a post. So these posts are not getting to your list unless you send them on. If there is a board associated with your list, and the gateway is on on the board side, all the board posts will be sent to your list. If you want the gateway to be OFF, it will be turned off -- the permission of the listowner is required for that. However, the settings may have changed during the changeover to the new boards. If you want the gateway ON, but want to be able to screen the messages, leave things the way they are now, and send suitable posts on to your list. We've asked that there be an explanation of the source of the message and a link to the boards on the gateway posts, but they have not yet complied. If you want ALL gateway posts to bounce to you, you'll have to add gc-gateway@rootsweb.com to your Reject file, because otherwise list subscribers who post to the boards will have their posts go through. You can check out what I'm saying by expanding the headers. Is there gc-gateway as the sender? People still have to subscribe to post -- that has not and WILL not change. If gc-gateway isn't in the headers, then you just have clueless people trying to post without being subscribed. Valorie PS: if there is a Philly-Roots board, and you want the gateway OFF, write to Boards-Localities@rootsweb.com and request the gateway be turned off. Be sure to tell Elaine that you are the listowner of Philly-Roots. I'm starting to get a lot of "not a subscriber" messages (in the subject line) on my mailing list. In the past, subscribers had to subscribe to post. That no longer seems to be the case. I don't know what's happening. The people posting are NOT on the list. No doubt about that. Anyone have any ideas? Walt - PHILLY-ROOTS-L waltstock@worldnet.att.net
