Only one thing I could suggest - I cannot get onto my ftp site through earthlink if I signon the normal way. I have to switch to another email name that I had originally set-up and then it will connect to the ftp sites. Janelle, I assume you have rootsweb "in" your firewall, right, so it has permission to talk to and from your computer? My Norton had to write all kinds of "permission rules" before my web worked. Have you tried turning off your firewall for 5 minutes just to see if you can properly connect once? Most of the time I find roots doesn't like something *I* did to my web on my side, but I know when my firewall was not configured right, my web acted like I was trying to start a car without having its insides assembled. Have you tried going to Fileman and trying to upload one page through there? Sometimes all roots needs is a little tricking, like how many times you have to push the gas pedal in an old car. Plus, if you can upload from there, you'll at least know the connection is not broken and can look elsewhere for the problem. Google the cemetery, get their phone number and call them up and ASK where your grandmother died because you need another copy of the death certificate. They're usually helpful. I was still using my old WS_FTP LE successfully until Saturday, but the right side... the Remote Site went BLANK sometime on Saturday. Then, I tried using the new WS_FTP Home that I had purchased and installed a couple months ago but just hadn't taken the time to figure it out. Problem: no connection to server - remote site Message: "Server address incorrect" I am using the host that was given to me for all my Rootsweb sites: users.rootsweb.com What is wrong with that? My problem is that I am trying to trace a British lawyer who was said to have worked as an attorney in the States about 1900 onwards and possibly a bit before. I am enjoying and benefiting from the discussion about website software and wanted to express my gratitude for all the recent posts. I recently hired a local woman to help me update our Rootsweb homepage website ­ she was not Mac savvy, but helped me with some basic changes. Our website was created about 1995 by an IMFA member in the Midwest, and it has been hanging out there in limbo for all these years. I used the validator website posted recently, and found we have 61 errors with the newly written code! And I still cannot get 2 photos to appear. I am using skEdit and the Rootsweb file manager to upload. Please keep recommending programs, even though Vedit, most recently recommended by Dale H. Cook, does not run on the Mac ­ and appears it may be too advanced for my needs. I learn something from each and every message.
