What does "FTP Error 530 - Login incorrect. !Logon failure" so quitting Answer: If you are getting this error then you need to double check your FTP username and FTP password that you previously entered . Make sure your ftp addresses are correct. I don't know a thing about IE7. Also, you might want to go to Fileman and see if you can upload 1 page through there. Sometimes computers get confused if you change something. I "trick" programs all the time to do what I want... then it works after doing the "trick," like loading a page thru fileman. Hi Listers, I just upgraded to IE7 and now I can't access my website. I assume the upgrade is my problem since I had no difficulty accessing my site and uploading changes prior to the upgrade. In any case I keep getting "530 login incorrect". I don't know what that means. When I use the IE browser I keep getting a page of text, not what I was accessing earlier. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!!!! Elizabeth

I am versed on using Microsoft Frontpage and wonder about its acceptability for the rootsweb environment. The current site is written in straight HTML language. I use HTML-Kit <http://www.chami.com/html-kit/>, it is free, and produces clean code - without proprietary M$ tags. I have no interest in HTML-Kit other than being a satisfied user. Pat ftp seems to be passive, and there is no pw At the moment I am trying to find out the password on that account - finally figured out that the email address I used when I first set up the website, was my very first email address. I guess that I should be happy that it took 6 years for problems to develop. The files I am uploading are html (text) from my Frontpage program. The file names have no spaces that I know of. I know that it is not my firewall. I tried accessing via cmd & I can access, except again I need my password. We are going to try updating that ftp program that I use (but I need my password first!) It is on homepages, not freepages, and often when one is down the other isn't so it is possible that the two are independent of each other. In the meantime, I keep going through rootsweb mailing list archives to see if I can find ideas Thanks Mary ------------------------------- At 12:02 PM 12/26/2006, you wrote: >At 11:52 AM 12/26/2006, Crandall Family wrote: > >Rootsweb-help list: > > > >I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to upload pages to my site on > >homepages using the same ftp program that I have used for about 5 > >years (coffeecup). > >I can connect to rootsweb, but as soon as I do, I get an error message: > >426 failure writing network session > > >What are the settings you are using on your ftp program? Rootsweb-help list: I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to upload pages to my site on homepages using the same ftp program that I have used for about 5 years (coffeecup). I can connect to rootsweb, but as soon as I do, I get an error message: 426 failure writing network session It started happening last Thursday or Friday Has anyone else encountered this situation? Does anyone know if this is a problem with my computer? rootsweb server? my ISP? Thanks Mary

This list is for Help with Rootsweb web sites for webmasters. One place to start your search for an answer is here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/ It appears from a five minute search that your problem is related to FP settings. Yes, the link itself works fine, as do ALL the ones I use from World Connect. But Frontpage keeps reporting ALL of these as broken. There is no "break" in the link after the cgi? BUT Frontpage does NOT retain the rest of the link (in Reports) -- on ANY of these. The links on the pages show like they are written and do work.
