    3. Many thanks Judy and very sheepish grin. Seeing the automatically revised date at the bottom of my index page, I wasn't then saving the file before uploading. Ruth Rathbone http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~fleming

    1. [ROOTSWEB-HELP] uploading help please Frontpage 2003
    2. Ruth Rathbone
    3. I'm transfering to a newer computer and having trouble getting the uploads to work again. I've selected the FTP option; for "Remote website location" I have : ftp://homepages.rootsweb.com/public_html The second box "FTP directory" is blank Frontpage then accepts my username and password. The page uploads successfully but it isn't updating the live page. My instructions are dated 1999 so maybe out of date and last time I used the Rootsweb FTP wizard successfully but can't swing it this time. Thanks for your help Ruth Rathbone http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~fleming

    3. It looks right. Make sure your file name has no spaces, and RW often prefers all lowercase names. Make sure your PC-web doesn't have any unauthorized file types that can interfere with upload (such as zip files). If you still can't get ftp to work, are you using IE7 ? Some cannot get IE7 to work with RW or freepages. You'll need to revert to IE6. If that isn't the issue, possibly it's RW's upgrading. If you are a FP user and want to move to using css (cascading style sheets) and dwt's (dynamic web templates) this is the way to go. Both FP and Expression Web allow you to publish via FTP or you can use a separate ftp program. FrontPage support will still be available as there are many who may not wish to move to the new version. pat ____________ We discuss FrontPage and Expression Web http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/frontpage/ Genealogy Web Design Tips and Tutorials http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/ http://www.blog.family-genealogy-online.com/

    1. Re: [ROOTSWEB-HELP] Problem subscribing to Rootsweb Lists
    2. In a message dated 2/23/2007 6:56:46 PM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Hi! For the past several months I have attempted to "join" several different rootsweb lists... I have not had any success. Last week I unsubscribed from several lists as I was away for a week or so. Today I attempted to resubscribe to the lists and again ran into issues. When I "subscribe" to the list I send the email to the appropriate address. It appears to have been sent... I do not receive any "bounced" messages back etc indicating there is a problem. HOWEVER, I do not get the "traditional" welcome message either telling me how to "subscribe/unscbscribe, post messages etc" either. I have also checked the "password central" web site as well to see what lists I am "subscribed to" and the ones I want to "rejoin" are not listed, indicating the "subscribe" message I sent the previous day did not arrive. Is there any way someone can help me with this?? The address I wish to subscribe with is [email protected] I am using "Yahoo Beta" mail if that makes a difference?? The lists I want to "rejoin" in digest mode are Heather- As Judy has already stated the HelpDesk is the place to go with this problem. But for what it is worth, I do NOT believe the problem is on your end--there have been known "issues" with some digest subscriptions. Recently the problem seemed to have been fixed--but any bugs in the system should be reported. If you haven't tried subbing to each digest in a separate email you might try that first and see if they go through. Sometimes if multiple digest subs are sent in one email only the first one or two are processed--another bug. If so, you need to give permission to it so that you can receive your Rootsweb mail. pat At 07:23 PM 2/23/2007, you wrote: >On 2/23/07, Heather Waddingham <[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi! > > > > For the past several months I have attempted to "join" several different > > rootsweb lists... 3. Heather, You might contact the HelpDesk as it might be a glitch. I also read somewhere that Firewalls can interefere with sending stuff to RW on forms. Since you are shown as not subbed after sending the mail, Helpdesk would be the place to start. 2. Heather Waddingham
    3. Hi! The lists I want to "rejoin" in digest mode are [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Thanks for your time. 1. [ROOTSWEB-HELP] Access Databases
    2. Dick Rose
    3. I am just getting started with a website on Rootsweb. I have experience with Microsoft FrontPage and I have several club websites that I manage on a volunteer basis. I am used to using the access database features on normal ISPs with server extensions. Is there any way to function with access databases for display and manipulation of data on this system? 1. [ROOTSWEB-HELP] Powerpoint... putting onto web?
    2. Judy Florian
    3. Hi, I'm doing a huge WWII project for a website on a rootsweb account. I was just asked if I can use Powerpoint files -- either to copy out the data on those -- OR to use "as" the webpage itself. I've never used Powerpoint. I know when I've seen such files on the web and wanted to save the text as a file for my personal storage, I could copy and stick into Notepad txt to save it. None had pics. BUT the powerpoint files I'll be receiving DO have pictures. The easiest would be to use those as webpages. But (1) is Powerpoint allowed and (2) HOW would I put them onto the web as pages? Would the file names still be html or htm ? Any SIMPLE, STEP by STEP explanations would be MOST appreciated. I've only been doing html for a year & a half so I'm still learning. 3. Judy PPT - Powerpoint files can be save as a webpage. Open the file... Click on "File" then find "Save as Web Page" and it will create the MHTML file. Matt Matthew D.
