    3. Has anyone found that RW is blocking Pico search engines? A question was raised (on a wrong Message Board) asking about this. They gave a URL of the error message as http://users.rootsweb.com/robots.txt which only has 2 lines on it. My Pico is working, so.... shrug. Anyone know? Judy

    2. The move to the new server broke part of the MailMerge script on the WWW server. If your template action is ACTION=mail Add a #Default section to your template for the mailto email addresses and the subject. e.g. #Defaults TO:[email protected] SUBJECT:The desired subject line MAIL_HEADER= To: @[email protected] Subject: @[email protected] We haven't found a work around if you are writing to a file, e.g. ACTION=file Freepages accounts are on a different server and are not affected. 3. Pat, Let me add this that the form that I have on a freepages account is working. What doesn't seem to be working are the forms that I have on genweb pages. Which I guess are www accounts? I discovered the problem yesterday when I set up a new form for a www account that I have and it wasn't working. After nearly pulling out all of my hair <grin> I tested the genweb forms and the freepages form. I got a email return for freepages but not the genweb pages or the www account. On the genweb pages the conformation page has a weird second form that I can't explain where it came from. Pat, if you don't mind could you take a look at it? http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Eohclermo/database_form.html Very much appreciate the help of everyone. HTML4, a very commonly selected level, does not require them; They are optional, as shown on this page by the closing tag being in light face font. http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/tables/tr.html (compare to: http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/html40/special/span.html) That being said, I think that it is well known that /some/ browsers have trouble dealing with tables coded without those closing tags. Earlier levels of Netscape come to mind in this regard. -- Regards, Rod Dav4is / P.O. 3. This is good to know that my forms are not the only ones not working. BTW, I also asked for help on the help desk and got a blow off reply to use the Elsie's pages on mailmerge for freepages. And the freepages path name is different for www accounts. So this doesn't say much for the help these days. Maybe know that two of us have a problem it will get more attention on the help desk. However, unless you know HOW to write valid html code, a hand coded page can be just as bad. Please let us not get in a discussion of the various web editors. That was not my purpose in writing this. As far as I know, in trying to validate your pages, a page with table codes that are not closed will NOT validate. I have never seen FrontPage not put ending/closing tags on each element. Why should we worry about creating accessible tables? Not everyone who visits your site may be a sighted viewer. Some may use a screen reader. I found this tonight and thought I would share it. http://www.webaim.org/techniques/tables/ pat ---------- We discuss FrontPage and Expression Web http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/frontpage/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/expression-web/ Genealogy Web Design Tips and Tutorials http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/ http://www.blog.family-genealogy-online.com/
