There was a FTP hiccup yesterday afternoon which hung up my FTP client for several hours. After uploading one file using the RW FileManager, my FTP client was then able to connect just fine, and remains functional today -- using PASV mode, I might add! It's been a while since I've updated my pages, am I correct in thinking from reading this that everything is back to normal and when I do my next set of edits I won't need to change anything? Thanks for all the info everyone! Starting yesterday it takes nearly an hour to FTP upload a new file folder with several new files in it. A few days ago it took two or three minutes to upload the same file folder. After taking two minutes to open a link, it uploads the file in a short time, then spends another two minutes opening another link for the next file, then quick upload followed by another two minute delay. Why does it take so much time to open a link, and why does each file have to open another link? I did note each file link changes (the number changes) to a different link to open and upload the next file. So the delays are not caused by the uploads themselves, but the waits for an ever changing FTP link to open. I use WS FTP95 LE so apparently my FTP program is not at fault.........everyone no matter what FTP program they use are experiencing unacceptable delays in uploading files. A change should be for the better shouldn't it? Thanks Pat. I have tried twice to contact the person who set this up for the WVGenWeb Project. No answer so far and she has always answered within hours, not days. Since I do not have her account info for response-o-matic, I am not able to follow up on this right now. If I do not hear anything soon I may need to create a new one and go from there. Write permissions should be changed ONLY for an output page, i.e. a page where the form input is written to an output page by the server. Your form calls a script hosted by form action="http://www.response-o-matic.com/cgi-bin/rom.pl" You will need to contact response-o-matic.com if you are having problems with their script. Pat
Hello, The CC Volunteer form on the WVGenWeb state page is broken. Whenever I try to change the file volunteer.htm to writable I receive the following error message. SITE chmod 777 volunteer.htm 553 Permission denied on server. (chmod) ! Chmod failed. It may not be supported on remote host. What have I forgotten or what am I missing? Les Shockey

That's important if you have long pages, because they would be incompletely searched and indexed. If you have short pages, it shouldn't be a problem. I say "X" because I can't remember the number that used to be their limit. Valorie
