Help, Please! I am trying to validate a CSS page - yuck! The message is somewhat similar to this for 535 errors for one page with a table - "Value Error : border-width only 0 can be a length. You must put a unit after your number : 1" My question is what do they mean by this saying width can only be a length? Where I went to school length and width were not the same thing. *smile* And - besides all this - the line number it gives doesn't show anything close to what the message reads. I mean that they have 4000 or more lines and the document has a little over 2000 or so. I feel a little more than stupid about this but then I am new to CSS and probably don't even begin to understand the language. I could use some help from someone out there who has some CSS knowledge to share with me. Donna Cooper

Possibly your A-V program was up-dating; possibly your ISP is having problems; possibly your computer is low on RAM; Question: is the windows' firewall actually running?; this is not a good firewall & may also be the problem. Possibly, the system was merely clogged for whatever reason - if so, try at anther time. Hoping you can determine the problem anon, On Thu, Dec 10, 2009 at 1:26 AM, J.A. I'm getting a new error when uploading to http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawashin/ System WinXPpro Sp3 Windows FireWall AVG antivirus software All is set to allow uploads with Frontpage. Frontpage2000 upload to ftp://users.rootsweb.com/public_html in the middle of the upload, it gives this message: WinINet error code 12110 It goes for a while and gives the error OR it immediately says the server is closing the connection after it's already been uploading a couple minutes. I kept re-establishing the initial connection and re-asking it to publish. Finally, on the 10th try it uploaded. >From what I read on the internet, a WinINet error code 12110 means there is another operation in progress. But nothing was open on my computer except Frontpage and no program was doing an auto download. Is a WinINet error code 12110 something on the server side, or on the PC side? Thank-you, Judy

Hi Charles, > I need to buy a new FTP program. Why buy an FTP program when there are good ones available for free? I am using Filezilla, and it is fine. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy
Free FTP Program: I tried "Classic FTP" today and it is great. It is free, fast and super easy. It works fine with Win 7 too. Thanks for the off line tip Mr. T. Charles

A lot of people have probably run into this when dealing with submissions from people with various versions, so it's worth pointing out this free converter: <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en> which allows versions back to Office 2000 to work with 2007 files. Also, there is the recurring problem with Microsoft Works files, which may be partially solved with this converter: <http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BF41401E-70FA-465D-AE2E-CF44DBF05297&displaylang=en> which will allow you to read Works files into Office 2003 and 2007. Cheryl, The difference to me is in the ease of operation. With WS FTP it was easy to select 100 files to upload and make a single click to upload them. I have WS FTP lite also, but I just do not care for it as much. (And they told me it would not work with Win 7.) I will try the free program mentioned in an earlier post later today. I guess while I'm on this subject, my large web site is on RW. So, I presume it is okay to discuss these general problems and ideas on this list. I uploaded Grant County yesterday to my RW account. It is hard to separate out a problem with Win 7 and FTP programs from the subject of RW web sites. The subjects mix and match. I think the more educated a person is about the net, the FTP programs and the operating systems the better he can manage his RW account. My next project is to remove all of the old FP 2007 Themes from my web pages. My goal is to make my web pages on RW look equally well with For Fox and I.E. 8. Fire Fox seems to default to the center and MS web programs like FP 2007 and Expression Web 3 default to the left. So all of the tables and every cell has to be changed manually to align one way or the other, not use the program default. This is taking me months to accomplish. Sorry I rambled. Office 2007 does take a bit of getting used to, but I was sort of "forced" into it - we migrated everything at work to 2007 and I couldn't work on files at home if I forgot to save them as a 2003 file. One other reason for me to upgrade is that there was a Microsoft Home Use program that I could purchase the Office 2007 Professional suite for next to nothing (we only had to pay for the shipping charges). I wouldn't have shelled out the big bucks if I'd had to pay the full cost, but for the cost of shipping only, it was well worth it. (They've since not renewed the Home Use Program for us, so I'll most likely be using the Office 2007 version for a while!) Jim, Office 2007 supports multiple identities and will import email messages, archives and contact lists from OE and previous versions of Office. I believe it also will import from some other programs, but I've not used any others so couldn't swear to it. Office 2003 does work in Windows 7 - I installed it on a new computer for my parents just last week. It may import OE messages and archives, I didn't check as they'd always used AOL mail so it wasn't an issue for me. Judy, 1280x800 sounds like a widescreen. 96 dpi is pretty standard. You could try 120 but that should only make the font bigger. It probably won't help your problem. Unfortunately, it sounds like a hardware problem to me. When I set a Windows Explorer window to 1280x800 I get 39 lines of text (files list) which works out to just about 20 screen lines per line of text. A lower case "l" takes up about half of that or 10 screen lines. If you're only getting 5 dots per lower case "l" it sounds like the display is skipping every other screen line. I don't know of any display setting that can do that.so think it must be a hardware problem. I'd consider returning the laptop if that's possible. Thank you, Jim. Here is a little more info. Dpi options 96 120 custom it is set at 96 dpi Resolution Highest is 1280x800 -- this is where it is set now I switched it 1 hash-mark lower-- the font is getting bigger but not much darker (bigger is not what I need. I need darker and less dots in letters) I switched it 1 more hash-mark lower-- the font is unusually and horribly big and bold I didn't measure but the laptop screen looks like a 15 or 15+ inch wide. So is there a combination of dpi and resolution that i could try? Excuse my missing caps on "i". Sometimes the i+shift doesn't make a capital. One more thing to get fixed. Sigh.
