    2. Pat Asher
    3. A reminder to you all that this list will no longer be active effective 3/2/2020. The archives will still be available at <https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/freepages-help@rootsweb.com/> but you will no longer be able to post questions or receive answers from list members through this list. We have created a new mailing list at Google Groups. The name for the new list is RootsWeb-Website-Help. It will replace both Freepages-Help@rootsweb.com and RootWeb-Help@rootsweb.com To subscribe via email, send a NEW email to: rw-website-help+subscribe@googlegroups.com You will receive a confirmation email. If you have a Google account, you can click the link in the email to confirm your subscription. If you do not have a Google Account, or you are subscribing with an alternate email address not associated with a Google Account, you will need to "reply" to the email instead. Don't add any text -- just "reply" to the confirmation email. IMPORTANT! - A Google Account or a gmail address is NOT required to subscribe. Pat Asher List Admin

    3. I don't think they are trying to destroy worldconnect on purpose. They just made a very, very bad decision to write their own more secure software from the ground up, instead of building security on top of the old, tried and true system. My hunch is they simply could not find a programmer who could build on the old code, and whoever is doing the coding now is not really able to replicate the great work that Randy had done perfecting worldconnect over many years. The results are disastrous. Ann Mitchell did indicate that they would be restoring the ability to contact the gedcom owner, but I am getting skeptical that will happen any time soon. And there is a huge amount of genealogical information in the trees that is not getting displayed, which I am very concerned about losing access to being able to research. And I am slowly moving my trees elsewhere. Too much data in my trees is now hidden from visitors, and they have no way to contact me, both of which I see as serious problems. Nothing compares to what we had, and they are still continuing to try to fix the problems, but at a very, very slow pace. 3. Alice: If you have not done so, you need to request a new password that meets the following requirements: Password rules: Passwords must be between 10 and 32 characters long, and must contain at least one uppercase letter, one lower case letter, one number, and one of the following special characters: _ ! @ # ( ) Asterisk (*) and ampersand (&) are NOT accepted characters. If your account has not been restored, you will not get a response back from the password change tool. The links in the password reset email expire in one hour so do not request it until you are ready to enter your new password. If you do not receive it within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If your email has changed since you created the account, and you can no longer receive mail at the original email address; or the site is registered to a previous USGenWeb coordinator, write to rwmailinglists@ancestry.com for assistance. This is how you set up FIlezilla http://sites.rootsweb.com/~gearyfamily/publishing-your-sites.html I tried using the ftp program you are using but without much success although I know there is someone on the list who uses it and may be able to help.
