Thank you, Tom Holden, for your explanation. I'm surprised that "name" is "indi" in RootsMagic. I guess it made sense to someone. I will presume that RM6 is not changed from RM4 for name citation. Probably no one else noticed the problem before. Is the gedcom standard indi or name? If it's indi I need to question the Legacy people. I want the programs to be compatible because I want to use both. Of all the other available programs only TMG is a peer. And to Jim Winfrey, years ago I made several suggestions to Bruce and we had numerous exchanges. That was back when I was telling everyone on the genealogy newsgroups that FO was much better than the Banner Blue product (FTM). Bruce adopted some of my suggestions so, yes we can win.
