This is in no way a problem, just something that struck me as odd after all these years of using The RootsMagician's magnificent toys. I am referring to the place name database that installs with RM if you let it do so. I have just completed upgrading to RM 6 (and subsequently 6.0.0.2) in our three machines, two Dell desktops and a Dell laptop, all three of which run on Windows 7 if that matters with anything. All three upgrades worked without difficulty, but in one of the desktops it also installed (or at least it said it did) the Family Atlas place name database. Does that mean my wife has been running without it all of this time, or else an older copy of it? I try to keep all three of them current, but I suppose it is possible that I overlooked it at some point in the one machine. As I said, it is no big deal at this point, but it struck me as rather odd. David E. Cann decann@infionline.net or "david.e.cann" on Skype
I just tried 'Search Everywhere', and I think it's buggy. Or I'm misunderstanding it badly. Looking up a newspaper report of an 'A Massie, of Peterculter' I use 'peterculter' as the single search key, and get the following results: People: 1) a note with Peterculter in the text 2) a Mary Massie, with residence note detail of peterculter. 3) Death note with peterculter in it. Families: 1) A note with Peterculter in it. Sources: 3 texts with peterculter in them Citations: Hundreds of citations, as there should be - because there are *hundreds* of facts with these citations. Where are they? PLACES: 6 variants on the place (West Peterculter etc), Using RM explorer, and looking for any fact place = 'peterculter' produces 45 individuals. So the 'search everywhere' seems to have missed 42 of them. Anyone else get this? -- Regards Dave
