As a result of Tom's helpful reply I looked at gedcoms from RM4 and Legacy. They appear to my untrained eye to be identical - an INDI and a NAME. In both cases the NAME has a name entered. My first thought would be that they could be exchanged between programs with no exceptions. But they can't as we discussed. My method was to create a gedcom from Legacy and import to RM4 then create a gedcom from RM4. So my question becomes, is there a way to mass edit an RM gedcom so the name will be sourced when exporting back to Legacy?
