There are a few detractors of place details. A GEDCOM transfer to some other program might not understand it too well. (that's about all the bad that I can think of.) Changing to place details isn't as difficult as it looks. For a bit of a trial of this, *backup your database* Now rename the one you are going to work with, add something like "with place details" before the dot. OK, go to the Lists menu then the Pace list. Scroll down to some place you know has a churches or cemetery listed in some town. With it highlighted, click the edit button, in the edit box near the lower right corner, click on "Split place/details" The top field will show the place as is is now, My example: "Memorial Park Cem., Huron, Beadle, South Dakota" Place the cursor just before the town name, Huron press the mouse button and drag clear to the left highlighting: "Memorial Park Cem., " With that highlighted, hit the Ctrl+X combination to CUT it Go to the place detail field and press the Ctrl+V to paste it there, You can edit it a bit, remove the comma and maybe type out the complete word for Cemetery. Everyone who was buried there is now updated. Going through the place list you can do this with one after another, when you get a bunch of them done you may find you have several places with the same name, you can them merge them and end up with one place with all the place details. You may find you don't like it, if not, restore your backup and forgetaboutit. It took me much longer to type this out than it would to do it.
