A reason to avoid shared facts is if you want to export your database or parts thereof to third party applications and not lose them. There is only one app that I am aware of that claims to 'support' RM's shared facts and that is the iPhone/iPad app GEDview, which actually converts them to individual facts for its handling. Were you to import the GEDview GEDCOM back to RM, the shared facts will have been replaced by individual ones, if I understand correctly what GEDview does. Tom
