Listers, I thought the shared event was a great addition to RM when I first saw it. Then I spend one day changing all my census events to shared events for two or three people. When I printed out a family group sheet for someone who needed the info (I actually printed a pdf so I could send it by email), I saw that the shared events printed in a way that I did not even recognize even though I had entered all the info myself. For the censuses, instead of showing the word Census, it showed "Daughter" or "Wife" or whatever family postion the person held in the family. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Plus, I could not create a profile for each person from the census facts as I had done in the past. The only person's notes to show up are those of the principal's. So have to rethink how I use the shared fact. I like the way the shared fact shows who is attached to that source but do not like how it prints. I like being able to attach a picture of the source (e.g., census) to only one person and have it show up in every one else's Edit Person screen. So, there are some plusses to the shared fact; I am sort of thinking of using both the shared fact AND the individual fact because most of the time I do not print out my information, I share it digitally or use it digitally myself. Digitally it does not take up that much space and gives me a bit more information at my fingertips. Now, if we could only turn off the shared fact when printing reports, that would be helpful. In the meantime, I now have to go back and re-add all the census info to those 3 people that I deleted it from. Should have paid more attention to how the fact worked before I spent the whole day changing it, sigh! Margie in Washington State
