Is there a way to tell RM that two different names refer to the same place during different historical periods?

The only list RM works with is modern names. If you put in a different name RM will accept it, but can't automatically geocode it. Also the county check will tell you it is not a valid name maybe. I still use them though. You can put the older name in notes and use the modern geocode if there is one. For others use the "AKA" with older name. In some of the EU countries and others as well the places changed names with the officials in office. Post Offices did too and may have been located on the county which changed too with the move. Just indicate what the name was and RM will accept it.
