See message below. Placefinder is 3 files. It operates independently if the three files are together. The install I am using now is in the Rootsmagic 3 program files. In the past on other computers I have just installed it in its own folder. It exists on Rootsmagic 3 and many of the later Family Origins install disks. placedb.exe = 420 Kb, placeta.ced = 3.43 MB, placeta.dbf = 20,741 KB. Look for the following files. placedta CRX Placedb.exe placedta.dbf Place all 3 files in same folder for it to work. Ithen place a shortcut to the Placedb file on desktop. Click on this to prove it works. You can then archive the RM 3 as you choose. Puting the RM 3 folder on a CD wil l preserve the place DB if needed or just archive these files. To: "RootsMagic Users List Posting" [8]<rootsmagic-users@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, March 27, 2011, 7:04 PM I've had RM3 installed since upgrading from RM2, but have never used it since RM4 came out. I've kept it there "just in case" but also because I still like to use PlaceFinder. Is anyone aware of uninstalling RM3 without it taking PlaceFinder out as well? I know it sounds silly, but I still use PF and would like to keep it installed. If anyone has any suggestions I would welcome hearing from you, but don't suggest I use Gazetteer that is part of RM4. I am aware it is there, but I just prefer using PlaceFinder for what I use it for. Thanks. David E.
