Shared events do not move into a gedcom to another software. Also many reports may not show shared events like you would like. I am one of them that do not use shared events, because of the issues with reports etc... Join the Forum [free] and there are more topics on this subject. I have been converting my general notes into events, adding sources, and making comments about the sources. When I print out the Research Report (Research Report>Research Notes), I do not see any of the events that are "shared". Is this correct? Should I stop "sharing" events? Can anyone tell me any other reasons not to "share" events? Thank you. Annette, Thank you for your comments. Is the Forum different from this rootsweb mail list? Lisa yes. There is more information on the forum and it stays there. There is also "Tip and Helps", Discussion, Issues and Wish list sections. You can look at it before joining for free. Go to the website and Click on Community and then message boards it will take you to the forum. There is a lot of information from version 4 and 5, which for many of us, 5 is an upgrade to 4. There are search buttons/fields. Some of us on here are also on the Forum. I quit this email list when the forum became available to us and re joined here about a year ago. Same questions or request seem to come up many times on both of them. A good place to learn and find answers. I second that. I started using them for a few weeks, but was not happy with how they showed on reports. I also noticed they didn't move into a gedcom. I publish my tree on WorldConnect and, since it didn't go on the gedcom, it didn't show on the website for the "shared" people. I decided to just add the individual facts separately to each person I wanted it to be on - i.e. census facts. It's easy to copy/paste the notes, now if only you could just copy/paste the entire fact with notes and sources it would be really simple!
