We have a 9 year old grandson about to begin the 4th grade in a week, and he is starting to ask questions and show an interest in our family genealogy that Grandma & Grandpa always talk about. Between my wife and I, he has 2 ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower, 1 an original settle at Jamestown, 1 who arrived with William Penn on the ship Welcome, numerous kings and queens from both of us, and a lot of other neat stuff that he learns about in school. The little squirt really seems interested, and now wants to take some information to school with him, which leads me to my question that makes it on-topic for this list. :-) Does RM5 print out a descendancy chart that can be pieced together with tape showing 12 or 15 generations? Either that, or else perhaps save it to CD and take it to Staples or somewhere else for printing on a printer with a larger platen than ours with letter or legal sized paper? We found a blank "15 Generation Descendancy Chart" on a trip once, and my wife has begun the long and tedious task of filling in all of the information BY HAND, but it is sure a tedious and time consuming task, especially when your hands and eyes are as old as ours are. Any ideas along this line would be very helpful. I've been using RM and FO forever, but I've not done many descandency charts that took more than a single sheet of paper before. Based on his questions, the little guy has figured out the connection between his ancestry and the history he learns in school, and we want to encourage him to study this if he does have the interest. If anyone can offer any suggestions on how to approach this, hopefully allowing us to print out a very large descendency chart, I would love to hear from you. David E. Cann decann@infionline.net
I regularly print out those charts. I often include both ancestors and descendants and can easily fit 15 generations on a 33 inch wide plotter Use the facility to copy and paste multiple families. I have shown my brothers and sisters families and my sister in laws families on one chart in this way on 75 in x 33 in Regards Jim Wem -----Original Message----- From: rootsmagic-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:rootsmagic-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of David E.
