    3. If her son opts for a virtual machine (Fusion), which requires having a Windows installation disk, there's a free option: VirtualBox from Oracle (https://www.virtualbox.org/). My suggestion for Crossover Mac was primarily because it does not require a Windows installation disk. In overly simple terms, Crossover emulates Windows so you can install Windows applications.
