MAC People are wondering about moving to something other than FTM and are concerned about the limits of GEDCOM import into Reunion. Substantial LinkedIn discussion is going on at Genealogical <http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=106885&trk=anet_ug_hm> & Historical Research on this matter. FYI Problems with Ancestry.com/ FTM for MAC If anyone is using any version of Family TreeMaker for MAC you most likely are unable to connect to the internet or sync your tree to Ancestry ( which owns FTM ) The message is usually that your firewall is blocking access, which is false. This has been going on for a week, and Ancestry knows about it but refuses to make it known publicaly for fear of the bad PR. They do acknowledge the problem deep inside a blog ( of all places! ) rather than post it on their website. Nor have they sent out emails to users, which they could have since they have our email on file. Calls to customer service are basically the same : they know about the problem but will not or cannot say when or how it will be fixed. I did manage to get one sympathetic rep on the phone who told me that even they have not been told anything about the problem. To me that is very poor management. Ancestry.com has grown so much until it seems they think they are above approach. We should all demand not only refunds for the days we can use the online features but threaten to cancel our subscriptions. Personally I am demanding that they refund me the purchase price if this expensive and mostly useless software. Paul A.
