Version 3.2.6 update is still available at http://rootsmagic.com/Updates/RootsMagic/ Your CD might have a valid product key that will work. If you previously registered RM3 and your email address with RootsMagic, they will have your key on file and can email it to you. I think it is different from your RM4 key. But I assume the only reason you are wanting to install RM3 is to be able to "restore" your cousin's backup to your drive so you can import his database into RM4. You could avoid the hassle of the keys and questionable installation on Win 7 by merely changing the backup filename's extension from ".rmb" (or whatever it was in RM3) to ".zip". I think Win 7 will then let you see into the file as a folder; select, copy and paste all the files into a temporary working folder; you may not need any other UnZip utility. That procedure will decompress the copies and extract them to individual files which RM4 File>Import can then see and work on. Knowing that each release had its bugs in the beginning, am I better off just going to RM website to get that version if it is still there? And then there is the matter of my "secret code" which died with my old hard drive where would I find that, or will the Magician and his aides have that? LOL I think I still have the FO disk around too. I see the book for it on my shelf next to at least 2 coppies of the RM book. If it can be installed, I don't foresee it messing with RM4 because their file systems are like chalk and cheese.
