The dbf and fpt files are probably your database files from RM3 or earlier. Somehow they have been moved or copied to your GEDCOM folder or you have imported into a new database which you created there. The imp file is likely a text file produced by RM when an import does not go perfectly. Hi Tom, Thanks for the comments. I currently use RM5, have moved immediately each new release has been made available, so suspect this is not RM3 related. Two things have changed in recent days. 1. A new version 5.0.4 of RM was released and this around the time these files were created, not before. If no one else is experiencing the problem then this takes me to the second change. 2. I have purchased Family Publisher from Progeny Software which creates some unusual charts (360 degree fan charts etc, which I liked). It uses GEDCOM files I have generated in RM5 to create the charts. I will do some experimenting and recording of times and events. Given that RootsMagic is such a great piece of software and never gives me problems I am leaning towards change 2 as being the source of the dbf etc files. Maybe the clue I was looking for and missed was one of the files is a 'fpt' file! doh! Gerald, DBF and FPT files are FoxPro format files, which RM3 used to use. RM4 and RM5 don't use FoxPro format files anymore. That would be why Tom asked whether you were using RM3. If you aren't using RM3, then I can guarantee RM4/5 is not creating the DBF or FPT files. - Bruce http://www.rootsmagic.com On Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 8:13 AM, Gerald A Cooke <gerald.cooke@gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Tom, > > Thanks for the comments. Thanks Bruce, appreciate your input. I can now confirm from running more tests that these files are associated with the Progeny Family Publisher software. Panic over for me.
