In one of the main screen views, just right click on the person and choose delete. First, I would go to the TOOLS menu and click on "Filoe Options" then, in the center right of the General window, choose Record number as the number you wish to display after name. Then, if the two "people have the same number, you should just delete one of the families and not the person.
