I guess you could use Miscellaneous and customise the sentence at each instance of the fact. For each ward you could use the date range covering the period from the start of guardianship to the date the ward reached the age of majority. The sentence could read something like [person] was under the guardianship of Joe Blow [Date]. For the legal guardian, the end date could be the date of release of the youngest ward and the sentence could be [person] acted as the legal guardian of the children of so and so [Date]. You might try a shared fact but I'm not sure which way to go on this. If the guardian is the principal role, then only the start date is common to all the wards. If the ward is principal, and each ward gets his own fact and shares it with the guardian, then the guardian ends up with multiple shared facts but the date ranges work. Perhaps the first makes sense and add an individual fact to each ward that has to do with what he did when he came out from under guardianship. Tom -----Original Message----- From: David E. As long as I have been using this software I never thought I would be saying this, but how do I enter a legal guardian for someone? I have never run into this before. The guardian did not adopt them (6 siblings), so adoption doesn't appear to be the right choice of fact, but what is? I am thinking about using the generic "Miscellaneous" fact, but I don't really care for that, either. David E. Tom, I first tried the Adoption fact, but there was no obvious way to modify that so that it didn't look like a. . .well, an adoption. I'm now tinkering with Miscellaneous to see what I can do with that, but this is the first time I've ever run across 200 year old guardianship documents so I want to see this come out right. The parents died, and an unrelated family legally agreed to look after the six children. David E.
