A friend and more recent convert to RM is desirous of doing the required 5 genealogies sourced with RM sourcing tools. Conforming RM to Elizabeth Mills for Certified Genealogist status purposes. She would appreciate any advice available. Is it possible to create any of your own source templates? I seen to recall - not possible. But perhaps some have thought of useful work around's. Paul A. Paul, The RM source templates are based upon Mrs. Mills Evidence Explained, although no genealogy program can anticipate all possible sources that will need to be cited. If the RM templates don't fit your friends needs, she can either modify them as previously explained, or use the free-form template. Perhaps I misunderstood your post, but BCG certification does not require "5 genealogies." While an RTF report download or copying and pasting from RM might be able to serve as a basis for some of the certification requirements, considerable editing in a word processor will be required. Many of those who have achieved certification, or are working on their portfolios, find it much easier to write the required narratives from scratch. I pointed her toward the <web site multiple databases> choice and she initially thought that would be a big help. Primary sources obtained via internet services were troubling her especially. Of course "W" for "web . . . " is near the bottom of the choice listing. <sigh> It might be helpful to others if <web site multiple databases> were the second item in the listing of choices given its common use these days. <Free form> is all right if one is not bothered by repeatedly DOING THE SAME THING. HAVING LEARNED THAT CREATING ONE'S OWN TEMPLATES ARE POSSIBLE WILL HELP TOO. I over heard that one had to submit 5 samples and that approval was quite fussy. Paul A. Studly, Esq.
