When I add a child to a family, the relation for the child is set to 'birth' which I assume that the child is related 'by birth' to the parents. I have a case where the child is related to the parents 'by adoption' and I have used the Adoption fact to document this. However R7 still reports the child's relation is 'birth'. The adoption fact is the only fact recorded for this child. What's the story here? Jim Shaw

Go to the edit screen on the child. Click on the parents listed. Select from the adopted for each parent. Birth if one is natural parent.
