Upgrade to RM7 which has a File Compare function which looks for matching people and works best if each file descended from a common file. If you are stuck on RM6, you could open both files and tile their windows side-by-side. Customize People View to add th column "Date lasted edited" and maybe add the Record Number" column. Arrange these to be right next to the name column. Sort on the name columns and scan for matching record numbers, different names, which has the later dates, etc. Or you could make a custom report in each database with these fields, print to paper and compare. Tom, how can you do a custom report that includes information from more than one database? You cannot do any report from RM that covers two databases but RM7 does compare two. I was suggesting the same custom report from each. > On Jan 30, 2015, at 11:50 PM, "Dora Smith" <[email protected]> wrote: > > Tom, how can you do a custom report that includes information from more than one database? > > Dora > > -----Original Message----- From: Tom Holden via > Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2015 10:46 AM > To: Maggie Champion ; [email protected] > Subject: Re: [RMagic] comparing 2 family files in RM6 > > Upgrade to RM7 which has a File Compare function which looks for matching people and works best if each file descended from a common file. > > If you are stuck on RM6, you could open both files and tile their windows side-by-side. I didn't know about the compare function in version 7. For a long time, I have been creating 2 descendant trees in Microsoft Word. Then lining them up side by side and fixing the one that needs fixing. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tom Holden via Sent: Saturday, January 31, 2015 6:52 AM To: Dora Smith Cc: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [RMagic] comparing 2 family files in RM6 You cannot do any report from RM that covers two databases but RM7 does compare two.
