Em: Send your phone number to villandra at gmail dot com, and we can work on it tonight. (I don't know if I had trouble subscribing but I'm subscribed from more than one e-mail account.) Also post what operating system you are using - Mac, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, or a different version of Windows, or one of the Linux operating systems. Then it is possible that what you said below will make instant sense to someone. Most of what you said below is that you have no idea what to do with a window, but if you're using Windows 8 it would confuse the nether end off a horse, and the latest Mac operating system unfortunately tried to imitate Windows 8. (Windows 8 is so unpopular it nearly brought the computer industry to a complete halt; people who don't know how to build their own computer stopped buying - I don't know what is WITH these corporate people.) I have training in Windows desktop support, and have done a call center job where I had to help people with Macs as well, so we ought to be able to figure it out. The only other window that I had open was my mail and I did shut that down. This is the first time that it has happened to me and it was confusing. I did notice that I had on the desk top a frame that went around the edge of the screen and it had the three boxes at the upper right to minus, reduce and close out (x). I couldn't get rid of that either. I remember expanding a frame to see more of the data and didn't reduce it, but not sure if that had anything to do with it. I did back up my data a few days ago on to a cd but I couldn't get it onto my flash drive with RM to go. I had a red flag saying there was a problem and I didn't know what to do about it. Thanks for a listening ear. When I have problems with RM, once out of the problem, I always restart the computer. Often we may have several programs open at the same time, which can occasionally cause conflicts. Starting with a fresh reboot clears out the computer's memory and may well solve the problem. You may not lose anything by turning off the computer, but it is always wise to backup your RM database every hour or so. It does not take much time, and it gives one peace of mind should some problem occur Margaret Scheffler -----Original Message----- From: Emery St Cyr via I was on rm6 and clicked on the person that I wanted to add a fact to and when I clicked on add a fact I got the little blue circle that goes around next to the pointer and it never goes off and I can't do anything on rm. I can go back to office 2010 and use it but and look at other mail but can nut shut down or do anything with rm. Can I just turn off the computer? Will I lose anything? =================================== RM list Archives: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/ROOTSMAGIC-USERS/ http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search?path=ROOTSMAGIC-USERS WISH LIST: http://www.rootsmagic.com/forums/ BLOG: http://blog.rootsmagic.com/ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com
