    3. Laurie, as I understand it, when you "match" a person in your database to an existing person in FamilySearch Family Tree, you are not transferring any data to FamilySearch's database. You are simply creating a link in your own database showing who the matching person is in FamilySearch. If you do not find a match in FamilySearch, then you have an option of transferring data on your person to FamilySearch by clicking an "Add to Family Search" button in the "Find Matches" tab. This adds the basic BMDB data, but not other facts. To add other facts, you have to click on the Share Data tab and manually compare them and add what facts you want. If you find a match to a person already in FamilySearch, you can then click on the "Share Data" tab, and compare the information you have with what is is FamilySearch; you can manually add what facts you want to to FamilySearch. Unless the fact you want to keep private is one of the basic BMDB facts, you don't have to worry about adding something you don't want to.
