I have several cases where I am descended from more than one child in a family because of cousins marrying, at least one in colonial America, some in Sicily, and some in France. There are probably others I don't know about. One of my DNA matches shows up as a close cousin, even though she is actually a 5th cousin. She is descended from 2 siblings through a marriage of 1st cousins and I am descended from 2 siblings of those 2 siblings through another 1st cousin marriage.
