Well, must admit how dumb I am !!!! Just figured out how I shot myself in the foot! On the report screen I had unchecked the CITATION box because earlier I had wanted a list of all the sources without that detail and had NOT TURNED CITATION DETAILS back on ....... ..... must be brain frozen with all the snow over the past 30 days in central Mass!!!!! At least it was a major brain cramp and I don't have to had lost 8-10 hours of work on my database!!!! ..... YES, go ahead and laugh!!! Thanks folks! If you try to merge sources based on different templates, your odds are only slightly better. The source into which another source is to be merged must have all the desired field names from the latter in its definition else their values will be invisible. There are so many pitfalls with source templates that I think it is best to use them only as a guide to what information should be contained in the Free Form sentences. Have you tried to see if File > Database Tools run from top to bottom makes any difference. If not, you will likely have to restore from a backup and redo some work.
