Before you delete either one go to tools/ File Options and select to turn on the RM numbers on the right hand side. Then you can tell if they are the same number. If the same then the 2nd is just an alternate name or AKA for the 1st one. If different, then you can have someone named the same; a person common to more than one branch of the tree or a spouse or children attached to the name, but not to a branch of the tree.     3. That's true. If I know they're duplicates and there is no information with one of them I usually delete them, but one can also merge them, and then one knows they are all there.     3. In this case where both records have a relationship, do not delete one, merge them. Merging them will maintain the relationships to both the spouse and the parent.
