Hi Em, I back up to my hard drive and a flash drive everyday without problems. Did you try with a second flash drive or put the flash drive in a different usb slot? There must be some quirk with the computer you are using. I have not tried a cd in years, so cannot comment on that process. There is often some trick to burning a cd; I have to figure it out fresh every time myself. It isn't straightforward. Em, what operating system and version are you using? Like, Windows 7? 8? XP? MAC?
