    3. I have ended up color-coding the two lines I'm working with .... then created a group selecting facts/events of birth/place contains, married/place contains, death/place contains, and burial/place contains. THEN I looked at the list of folks it generated and made a MANUAL LIST of the names of people color-coded! Bruce --- there must be a way that RootsMagic could produce this rather than the hills and valleys above??????? 3. You are on the right track. This should work: 1. Clear colour coding for the colour you are going to use in the next step, say, red. 2. Set your group of Mother's ancestors to red. 3. Create a named group using these criteria: 1. Mark Group>Select people by data fields>Birth/Place contains... OR Married/Place contains... OR Death/Place contains... 2. Unmark Group>Clear people by data fields>Color coding is NOT Red 3.
