That is correct, Jinny. The DUP file tracks those pairs thrown up as possible duplicates that have been marked Not Duplicate. Deleting it will have the result that those that have not been merged will reappear as possible duplicates. It is possible that a disruption to normal operations could leave the DUP file in a locked or corrupted state giving rise to operational problems and an error message.
