RM's backup and restore of media has two significant problem. One is that it is extremely slow. The other is that it combines all your media into a single large directory. I think most users most of the time would be better served by copying their media to a new computer some other way than using RM's backup and restore of media. As far as your RM database itself, copying the database file to a new computer (the RMGC file) or doing a backup and and restore where it's the RMGB file that goes to a new computer, it's really six of one and half a dozen of the other. The RMGB file is smaller and the RMGC file process is slightly simpler, but there is very little practical difference between the processes.
