Just an update on the post I made last night.... Windows 10 has a nice option.... if you have an ISO image of a CD or a DVD, simply double click on it and Windows will mount it as another drive, giving it the next available drive letter. Once that is done, browse to the file autorun.exe on that drive, double click on it, and then RM's web pages will start up directly. To eliminate the CD image as a drive, right click on it and Eject the phantom CD. If you leave the CD image mounted as a drive, you can repeat the process of restarting the web page for at least several times... however, there is apparently a limit to this, because last night I was getting the message that the license had expired when I did this. Should that happen, it seems to be fixed by ejecting the image and re-mounting it. -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Re: [RMagic] A fairly technical question about web site files generated by RM Date: Wed, 1 Jun 2016 22:02:39 -0500 From: Charlie Hoffpauir <CRHoffpauir@gmail.com> To: Tom Holden <ve3meo@gmail.com> On 6/1/2016 4:42 PM, Tom Holden wrote: > > > On Wed, Jun 1, 2016 at 5:26 PM, Charlie Hoffpauir > <crhoffpauir@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Tom, > > Many thanks for all the information. My initial testing was all done on an ISO file I generated using Nero (so as not to waste a lot of CD blanks), and indeed, just clicking on the autorun.exe file started the web site directly. However, now I see it now gives me a message that the license is invalid. When I insert an actual CD created from that ISO, Win 10 asks me what I want to do with the inserted CD. The first option is "Start DWebPro", and if I click that , then the web site starts just like you reported. The default browser is Chrome, and that is what is opening. -- Charlie Hoffpauir http://my.rootsmagic.com/CRHoffpauir/ http://sites.rootsmagic.com/CharlieHoffpauir/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/ http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Hoffpauir
