On the upper left, click on "file" Then click on "properties" A window will open (eventually depending on how large your database is) and give you database information. One item is "Events". Unless the program has changed, this item keeps track of events in your data and marriage is an event. Unless you delete the marriage, the number of events doesn't change when you unlink a couple but it does if you delete the marriage. Once the couple is unlinked, there is no way to delete that event. To me, that means there is data lingering somewhere in the database and it has to be taking up room on your drive cluttering it up. Now, there have been a lot of changes to RM and this may no longer happen but it used to. .
