A Jim A 5 or 6 generation chart is all you can get. On screen the 6 generation chart is almost unreadable. I;m not sure if the 6 will print. You can get some reports of the ancestors under reports. Jim - My mistake. You can get cascading charts if you indicate number of generations. It is under reports. Hope this helps. On the upper left, click on "file" Then click on "properties" A window will open (eventually depending on how large your database is) and give you database information. One item is "Events". Unless the program has changed, this item keeps track of events in your data and marriage is an event. Unless you delete the marriage, the number of events doesn't change when you unlink a couple but it does if you delete the marriage. Once the couple is unlinked, there is no way to delete that event. To me, that means there is data lingering somewhere in the database and it has to be taking up room on your drive cluttering it up. Now, there have been a lot of changes to RM and this may no longer happen but it used to. . You don't even need to take the step to delete the marriage. Just highlight the woman who is linked to her father-in-law, right click on her and chose unlink spouse. Thanks for that Jim. Deleting the marriage was something I was sure was necessary, then I couldn't get the daughter in law and father in law unlinked. Thanks to you I finally did make it work right. I'm having difficulty in obtaining an accurate Pedigree Chart Report for the "base person" in my database. I'm using RootsMagic 7.1.0.7 and Windows 10. I have gone to Reports, Pedigree Chart, picked the "base person", created the report, *but* only one page shows. I have gone to Tools and reset Relationships with the "base person" and when reviewing that person's information under "Pedigree", all the correct ancestors show. But when I prepare the Pedigree Chart Report, there is still only the first page. This is the first time this has happened as I have prepared a Pedigree Report for the same person in the past with no problems. I have also opened another data base and created a Pedigree Report for the "base person" with no problems. Any and all assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jim Faulkner

Could it be because they need to change the path to the media files in RootsMagic so it can find their media files? Sandra, just be sure you have a backup & you won't have to worry about losing any data if you try the SQLITE solution. I would recommend making a copy of your db & maybe naming it Test or something that makes sense to you, then try SQLITE. I've never tried it myself, so I can't help you. I'm only about 5 years younger than you, but luckily haven't needed SQLITE. Hi Nancy. The spouse should show up in index list on the left side of the main screen. Is it possible you entered the entire name in Given Name field or the Surname field? For example if you entered "Susan Smith" all in the Given Name field then it will show up in the index under ", Susan Smith" (note the comma and space at the beginning). If you entered it all in the surname field then she will appear in the index under "SUSAN SMITH" (sorted under "Su" instead of "Sm"). Another possibility that I have done is entering a name reversed. I.e. enter "Smith" for the given name and "Susan" for the surname. In that case she would obviously show up in the index under SUSAN, Smith. Hope this helps.
