    1. [RMagic] iPad app still showing incorrect media
    2. M. A. Beldin via
    3. Hi All, I followed Tom's suggestion and unchecked all the boxes for the media files I had for my ancestors. I then replaced the file on my iPad and I still have the pictures of the documents as photos next to each person's name in the pedigree view I don't want to have to delete all the media that I have collected and attached to my ancestors but this is annoying. Are there any other suggestions? If not, I will call tech support to see if they can help. Thanks Margie in Washington State *From:* Tom Holden <ve3meo@gmail.com> *Subject:* Re: [RMagic] iPad app database displays incorrect media *Date:* Thu, 16 Jun 2016 23:59:36 -0400 You might have to uncheck the "Include in Scrapbook" option for each tag. 3. RM's backup and restore of media has two significant problem. One is that it is extremely slow. The other is that it combines all your media into a single large directory. I think most users most of the time would be better served by copying their media to a new computer some other way than using RM's backup and restore of media. As far as your RM database itself, copying the database file to a new computer (the RMGC file) or doing a backup and and restore where it's the RMGB file that goes to a new computer, it's really six of one and half a dozen of the other. The RMGB file is smaller and the RMGC file process is slightly simpler, but there is very little practical difference between the processes. 3. You can do it either way. Operationally there is not much difference between a backup and restore using an intermediate medium compared to copying a file to an intermediate medium then copying the file again to the destination computer. Back in the previous versions of RM when the database consisted of something like 33 or 35 separate files it was a lot easier to use the backup and restore. If you are copying to another computer on the same network, the backup and restore would add an extra step over a plain copy of the file. 2. M. A. Beldin via
    3. I just uploaded my database to my iPad. In the pedigree view, where the picture of an ancestor, if I had a picture, could be viewed, I see a document that I have saved instead. These are ancestors from the 1700s, so I have no pictures but have added documents to their media files. I have unchecked Primary photo so that the media does not show in my PC database, but the same database uploaded to the iPad shows tons of my ancestors with a document in place of the blue or pink icon designating their gender. I have gone thru my media files for each person, checking the tags because that is one place I notice automatically checks the primary photo but on some, the Primary photo is already unchecked yet the document shows as their primary photo. How do I clean this up. It is most annoying Thanks Margie in Washington State

    3. RootsMagic cannot generate a Descendant List indented by generation number AND with the burial event. It can produce a list sorted by name using the Fact List report, filtered for Burial Place containing Henderson and Burial Place Details containing Brown Cemetery. You could use Publisher to contain in one book with a common index both the Fact List report and the Descendant List report. 3. Thanks to Lou and Jon for their responses on my question. I can easily combine the Henderson and Henderson Township into one place, but I am still left with the issue of needing to create a descendant report that includes place of burial. A simple place list would not be enough. The only thing I could do is create my descendant report, save it in text format, then take the place list report and add in the places of burial for everyone in the descendant report. I was just wondering if there was a simpler way to do this using the RootsMagic program and perhaps a custom report. I still have a lot to learn about RootsMagic and have not yet tackled trying to figure out how to do custom reports. Any assistance or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Joanne from MN

    3. I would have them both under Henderson with the notation of old section for those in the Township part. Plano, Texas has a grouping of the Masonic section as well as the regular part, but they are so intertwined hat you can't find the Masonic area unless you know where to look. 3. JoanneI don't know if this is the "Best" way to do what you want, but it seems to meto be A way to do it & where I would start. If you go to List - Place List and enter your place - ie 1] Henderson Township andyou'll have an option to Print the list which should include your Brown Cemetery; Then 2] in Place list again enter your second locale Henderson and print the listwhich will again include the Brown Cemetery. In that list will be the names & dates of burial for anyone you've entered with that info. Hope that helps.Love, Lou From: JOANNE BECKER via <rootsmagic-users@rootsweb.com> To: ROOTSMAGIC-USERS@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, June 10, 2016 7:17 AM Subject: [RMagic] Help with Cemetery List Part of my family is from Sibley County, Minnesota. The local historical society is trying to get the oldest cemetery in Henderson on the national register so they are looking for family history information on families buried in this cemetery. Can someone tell me how to create a custom report showing a descendant list from our oldest relative in Sibley County including where everyone was buried (place and place detail)? I could then modify the report and highlight all buried in the Brown Cemetery. Note that I have Burial as a separate fact with Brown Cemetery as Place Detail. There would be two locations that Brown Cemetery would be located in - Henderson Township, Sibley County and Henderson, Sibley County. The reason for this is that some of the older relatives died and were buried when Henderson was only a township and not officially a village/city. So, if there is a way to include both, that would be helpful. Otherwise I could create a report for each location. Thank you for any and all help as this will be my first attempt to create a custom report in RootsMagic.
