Dee, I'm not a good one to ask because I've never had to do it, but if you contact RootsMagic (the company, not the software) I believe there is a way of confirming that you are a licensed user and replacing your software and/or license key. If you find their webpage and contact them, they ought to be able to help you without having to repurchase the software. Good luck to you. David E. Dee, To my knowledge, the software can be installed on up to four computers so long as you are the primary user at all four and no more than one of them is being used at any one time. Or at least, that is the way it used to be, but I've admittedly not read the small print in the license information in awhile. Also, if you're not aware of it, there is a Family Atlas list that is just like this one only for FA software. You are right, but it is no longer available for sale. I would have sent myself since he said he had previously bought, but someone did so first. It is a good little program for quick city checks like the county check, but was not from Bruce originally, I believe. He got permission top make it available with earlier programs, but not with the newer RM's. Guess work on my part. Bruce has to pay per user price for some of these add-ons nd ones that are liked can come high as popularity increases. Mapping programs were mentioned earlier as example. Place Finder was a standalone program within the RM 3 folder. It was referenced from the program, but was not a part of the program itself. If you had bought RM 3 perhaps you can still get a download copy from RM. If yoiu registered and don't have the input reg info, you may still be able to get it from RM. Since no free version was issued, it won't open without that. The download is still available. See message below. Placefinder is 3 files. It operates independently if the three files are together. The install I am using now is in the Rootsmagic 3 program files. In the past on other computers I have just installed it in its own folder. It exists on Rootsmagic 3 and many of the later Family Origins install disks. placedb.exe = 420 Kb, placeta.ced = 3.43 MB, placeta.dbf = 20,741 KB. No, it was a stand-alone place name database that only came as an optional part of Family Origins before it became RM. RM works with Family Atlas, so Place Finder pretty much has fallen by the wayside and pretty much has been replaced by FA. It was a handy little tool that I am going to miss, but I wish I had saved the executable for times like this. :-( David E. Rudolph, I have the "placedb" file with my RM5 as well, but that has nothing to do with Place Finder.
