    3. To send a file to Tech Support, you have to go to the RootsMagic website and select Support > Get help > scroll down to Online Technical Support and follow the instructions. To send a file to a poster in this forum, attach it to an email addressed directly to the poster's email address, which is available in the From line of the message. The correct functioning of RTF is absolutely essential to anyone serious about publishing from their RootsMagic database. 3. The ONLY program that will almost correctly handle the RTF files saved from RootsMagic is Microsoft Word (unsure what the oldest version is that does), NOT WordPad, NOT WordPerfect, NOT Open Office's equivalent, and not likely Libre Office's equivalent. To cause the saved RTF file to automatically open in MS Word and not something else, you need to set the File Association for RTF to Always Open with MS Word. 3. I might try converting the pdf to text. An early version of Family Origins allowed me to print to text. And I think I exported to PAF and got good results but that was a long time ago. I use the individual report for the head of the household and that does fairly well to make a text file. Other times, the pdf works well but has to be an attachment. I do still have Microsoft Works on my computer. I have Word Perfect 5 and Microsoft Word 2007. There should be a check box somewhere to be able to do an "open with." I'm also having a problem that I didn't have before that leaves out the birthdate on some places. I saved the RTF file to my desktop and tried the "open with" Microsoft Works Word processing and it tells me I do not have enough memory to open that one page. It says to close all other programs, which I did - I even restarted my computer and it still told me I do not have enough memory. I have Windows7 - 64 bit, with 310 GB space available and 7.89 GB ram available. If you find the problem, please let me know, too. 3. Have not read if anyone answered this question, if you have MS Word or WordPerfect it should go directly to that software. If you do not have the software, save it, and bring it up in OpenOffice /Word pad or ..... by the new name and look at it there. -----Original Message----- From: rootsmagic-users-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:rootsmagic-users-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Betty Stokes Sent: Thursday, October 04, 2012 9:57 AM To: rootsmagic-users@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [RMagic] Family Group Sheet I always get the latest version as soon as it comes out. 3. Betty - I have the same problem you have. PDF works just fine, but RTF opening in Wordpad only shows the first line. I have tried the suggestion to uncheck the view option, but still only get the first line. I cannot find any place to change any other options for viewing this report. Thanks, Joy On 10/4/2012 3:53 PM, Betty Stokes wrote: > That is what I think.
