I'll describe it here, but in reality, it won't affect the vast majority of users. It only occurs when I try to generate a 7 generation descendent list from my earliest ancestors, and only because one seems to have a huge number of descendents. If I try to create the same list from one of his sons (who has not so many descendents), it works fine, but if I try from the other son (The one with the huge number of descendents) I get the same exact error. Here's the message: Access violation at address 010213AB in module 'RootsMagic.exe'. Write of address 7EF9000A. The message is a windows error message, so it looks like windows thinks RM is doing something like trying to write twice to the same address. Anyway, it causes me to have to leave RM and restart it to clear the huge red box it places in RM. After trying what Renee suggested without any luck, I submitted a copy of my database to RM for them to look at the problem. I had already tried the database on my laptop to eliminate a computer problem, and was able to create the exact same error. Here's the last message I received from Renee: Renee RootsMagic Support * Good Morning, Development has you file. I have no time frame when they will get to it. It is best not to wait on them and instead drag n' drop your file into a new blank database so you can continue working. Sincerely, Renee RootsMagic, Inc. August 30, 2012 11:19 Of course, moving to a new database doesn't fix the problem, it just moves to the new database. If anyone knows what the Windows error message really means, I'd appreciate letting me know, off list if necessary. And I'd really like to know if anyone has a similar database with lots of descendents and can re-create the problem. My database isn't that large.... 31,572 people, 12, 464 families. But I'm tracking "all" the descendents of Thomas Hoffpauir, the family's earliest known ancestor, so descendent lists and reports get very large. -- Charlie Hoffpauir http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/ Message board: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.hoffpauir Mail list: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/h/hoffpauir.html DNA project: <http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Hoffpauir>

I just got the new RootMagic6 installed. I checked to see if I could print the FGS in rtf and I can. I can also type edit it after it is saved. I could not do this before. Betty
We are excited to announce the release of RootsMagic 6. We have added some of our most requested features: online publishing, the ability to search every record (not just people), an editable timeline view (very powerful), and new WebTags which let you link people, sources, places and research log items to web pages. Plus dozens of other great features and enhancements. There's a little something for everyone. Second answer. You cannot print a narrative report restricted to just the members of the direct line between 2 people but you could use the relationship chart to build a Named Group comprising just those members and use the group in printing a batch of Individual Summaries , custom reports, and whatever else supports selection of persons to include. Tom
Reports > Charts > Relationship chart Is that what you want? "contents" is rather open-ended. I have used rootsmagic on my Mac beautifully for the last 3 years, first using vm fusion and now I use Parallels. I have tried all the programs for Mac's none of them are as good as rootsmagic or Legacy or Ancestral Quest. These three are far superior. Also, they are working on versions for the Mac.
